Mission and Vision

The mission of the Cleveland County Animal Services Department is to protect the health and safety of our residents; promote humane care and prevent cruel treatment of animals; and work to reduce the number of stray and homeless animals in our county.

Our vision is to end homelessness of companion animals, where none will suffer neglect or abuse, while being a fiscally responsible organization, and preserving the safety, security and welfare of our residents.

We commit to improve communications with both internal and external clients in an expeditious, thorough and professional manner. We will place emphasis on “at-risk” animals developing strategies based off carefully reviewed data. We will evaluate new programs and services and re-evaluate current ones to ensure we are addressing community animals needs. We will collaborate with other industry leaders and gather information regarding innovative shelter practices.

We value an environment where teamwork is paramount, ideas are welcomed, creativity is encouraged and successes are celebrated.

Announcements
Cleveland County passes new ordinance September 2021

The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners passed revisions to the Animal Services ordinance on September 21, 2021.

The previous revision had been in place since 1995 and was in need of a substantial review. Animal Services staff and the Animal Services Advisory and Appeals Board met monthly over the course of a year and systematically reviewed each ordinance.

Here is the newest version of the ordinance: Cleveland County Animal Ordinance
